Christmas Cottages and spaghetti :o)

I worked on some Christmas Cottage blocks today for a swap that I'm in. You make them in pairs (not necessarily matching) but then there is an "uphill" and a "downhill"... I have made 4 sets so far, but plan on making more before the deadline... :o)

There is crocheted lace along the rooftops and buttons for doorknobs (from that jar that I got at Apple & Pork!)... These are really fun to make!
And here is Jimmy at lunch time, having spaghetti... How did he get it THERE?!?! :o)
Hope everyone is having a good week! Thanks for stopping by!

fun things... :o)

Lots of fun things to show in this post... :o) First off, this BEAUTIFUL little wallhanging came from Beatrice in France - I won a little contest on her blog a little while back, and this gorgeous wallhanging was my prize! Her hand-quilting is SO nice! I have it hanging above my sewing machine! :o)
This weekend was the 42nd Annual "Apple and Pork Festival" here in our town... :o) We only live down the street from the main attraction, "The Homestead", an 1860's mansion that is now a historical landmark. Here is Jimmy showing you a few of the goodies I had to get - a *Ball jar* of old shell buttons and a lovely crocheted doily.
Here is the same doily, along with another one that I got. Can you believe I only paid $3.25 total for BOTH doilies! It was my lucky day!
And here is my current sewing project... A double wedding ring quilt for my sister, from my mom. Mom bought a pre-cut kit and I am doing the sewing and will be hand-quilting it... :o)
Hope you all are having a good day! Thanks so much for stopping by! :o)

Holidays at Home BOM - quilt top finished!

I was excited when the finishing kit came for the Holidays at Home BOM on Friday! Here is my completed quilt top!

I love, love, love the cardinals fabric and the rose fabric in the border! This quilt is about 62" square. Now to see if Carol would *possibly* have time to quilt this before Christmas... Or maybe for next Christmas... :o)))

P.S. Ignore David with his yo-yo on the side there... It took me about 5 times to get a pic that wasn't blurry (because the window fan is blowing in) and decided who cared if David's yo-yo was in the pic... :o)

Happy Birthday, Laurie!

A little birdie told me that today is Laurie's birthday! She is a sweet friend, that is so crafty and also happens to be a Scout mom! :o) I hope you have a Very Happy Birthday, Laurie! Go visit her HERE and send her some birthday wishes! :o)

Sent With Love quilt

I finished up this quilt yesterday -- I had made the top back in the Spring, but hadn't finished it until now. It is just tied. Fabrics are "Sent With Love" fabrics from Moda. (The same fabrics as my little bitty hexagons that I am working on.) I love the scrappy binding on this, I used jelly roll strips that were left-over from the blocks... :o)
A friend found out her cousin has inoperable cancer, so this quilt will be going to her... I hope she knows it was "Sent With Love"... :o)

Mystery Block of the Month

Here is the September BOM from the 2010 Designer Mystery Block of the Month from Fat Quarter Shop. These are so fun, the prints really make me happy! :o)
David stayed home today from school, with a headache, so here are the boys napping on the couch this afternoon... I couldn't resist snapping a picture... :o) (See the Happy Houses quilt, Pat?)

Have a great week!

getting things done... :o)

I finally feel like I'm getting a few things done! :o) I finished up the memory quilt - it was mailed out to the customer last night... I like the way it turned out, even if it isn't all "match-y" like I usually like. It's more about the thoughts it evokes, than being match-y... :o)

Also, I finally "decided" and am making a change in my Dear Jane journey. I am not good at applique -- certainly admire those that do it well! (Beatrice, included!) But I have decided that I really don't care whether I get good at it or not, it's just not enjoyable to me, at this time. So I am going to start doing the applique DJ blocks, as embroidery instead... :o) These were the first ones that I have done as embroidery, J-11 "Twin Sister". I enjoyed these MUCH better and am looking forward to doing more of them! (Rather than dreading the applique ones!)

And last but not least, Carol quilted my "Emma's Legacy" quilt and I got it back this week and got the binding put on it. I *LOVE* this quilt!

I told Carol I wanted something old-fashioned, maybe vines -- but she always knows the perfect design! These leaves are fantastic! Thank you so much, Carol - you always do such beautiful work!
So, now to just decide what to work on next... :o) Thanks for visiting!

quilt tops...

I have been busy, busy, the last week or so, but don't have any "finishes" to show for it! :o) First off, I am working on this memory quilt for a customer. Here is the quilt top. Alot of t-shirt fronts, sweater pieces, even pieces of an old comforter! And then squares of cottons that just show faves of the gal. Finished up the top yesterday. She wants Minky on the back, so the "batting" will just be a flat sheet. Some hand-quilting (around the things "added" to the top) and then tied in the corners of the blocks. (per the customer's request.) I have a hard time making things like this, because I want everything to be match-y, but I like the finished effect... :o)

And here is a quilt top that I finished for Laurie (Indulge Your Shelf). She designed the quilt, and added her son's Cub Scout patches to the gold fabric in the shape of a Fleur De Lis. Then she sent me all the fabrics. I cut out the gold and added it onto the blue, and then the borders. And then appliqued the gold stars. She is going to hand-quilt it and add a few more of her son's patches to it, for a memory quilt to display. :o) I was very excited to be a part of this quilt! :o)

Hope you all are having a good week! I hope to be back soon with some finishes! :o)
