6 years

6 years ago yesterday, I was lucky enough to marry this wonderful man! And boy, can he still make me smile! :o) We went out to the park where we were married at, and had a cook-out. Jimmy came along... :o)

Here is Jimmy and Jim walking along the little road...

And like most women, I usually don't like photos of myself, but Jim took this one and I kinda like it... :o) Only he can make me smile that way! :o) I hope we have 60 more years together!

Scouts

A friend of David's is having his Eagle Scout Court of Honor this weekend. This is the gift we made for him. I stitched the eagle on the embroidery machine - it almost took 2 hours to stitch! David and Jim made the frame...

Only about 2% of Boy Scouts become Eagle Scouts. Quite an accomplishment! David gets to be part of the ceremony, which he is very excited about! I'm very proud of David, and glad that he is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout, just like Wyatt!

purses

I have been working on purses for the last few days! :o) These are more that I made from the pattern by Keyka Lou. Fun, fun!

Recognize the pink fabrics, Patty?!? :o)
This one is my favorite, using some left over charm squares:

I put these up for sale on our Country Scrap Quilts site... :o) Now, to make some camera bags... :o)

first day of school 2010

Yesterday was the first day of school here - luckily, my kids still love school, and with how stinking hot this summer was, they were ready to go back! They are now 7th graders! (How did that happen?!?!)
Jimmy was going to go to PreK, but state funding was cut, and they could only take 60 children, instead of 100.... He was very disappointed!

this and that...

Another this and that post... :o) Here is the August block for the Holidays At Home Block of the Month. Next month is the last month, we receive the sashing and borders, and can put it all together! :o) Then to decide if I will hand-quilt it or send it off to be quilted... I can't wait! :o)

And here is a little throw-size quilt top that I put together yesterday and this morning... The pattern was called "Log Cabin Star". I really love this, mostly because the fabrics are part of the "Dandelion Girl" fabric line, one of my ALL TIME favorites!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I am off to work on another purse - my mom's birthday is in October, and I think a new purse would be the perfect gift... :o)

my new purse

On Sunday, I worked on my new purse! The pattern is called "Lots of Pockets Tote" by Keyka Lou. This is the same place that I got the camera case pattern from. Her patterns are SUPER easy! I used some of the "Rawhide" fabrics from Moda. LOVE them, they are SO me! :O)

I can see myself making many more of these purses in the future... :o)

I also worked on my Dear Jane blocks, yesterday and today. I now have 42 blocks completed -- times two! You can see them on my DJ blog,
HERE.
Thanks for visiting!

Christmas is in the air...?!

After making those Christmas Star Blocks for the swap I am hostessing, I decided to make another set, just because... :o) A different block this time. 6-1/2" blocks. I love the stripe frame on these... :o)

And here is the August block for the 2010 Designer Block of the Month from Fat Quarter Shop. The fabric and pattern just came in the mail this morning... :o)

I seem to be on a Christmas theme lately... :o) Thanks for stopping by... :o)

gifts

Yesterday was a great day! First off, I am in a Friendship yahoo group, where we have a birthday FQ exchange... So I got all these lovely FQs from the gals in the group! I will be able to use alot of these fabrics in my pink Dear Jane quilt... :o)

The yo-yo puppy and fabric underneath it, came from my dear friend Shirley! Isn't it cute! And she's PINK! The "Stamp Basket" stamps are my gift from Jim... :o) The 3 Schnibbles patterns are from the trio and Jimmy... And the pink 1/2 yard of fabric, Lizzie picked out for me - she had her own $... :o)
Jim also ordered 2 quilting books from Amazon.com, but we chose the slow shipping to save a little, and they haven't gotten here yet! Ha! They should be here tomorrow! :o)
The only down side to the day was that we usually go to the Nascar Sprint Cup race in Brooklyn, MI in August, for our wedding anniversary... We have went 4 years in a row and have great seats, right before the start/finish line, just 6 rows up! But Jim has been sick all week (he has now been to the Doctor twice) - he has asthma, etc., and so we had to decide not to go to the race this weekend. This would have been only the 2nd time in 3-1/2 years that I would have been away from Jimmy, besides going out running errands... We could really use the alone time (well, you know, with thousands of other Nascar fans! HA!) Disappointing, but what can you do?!

don't forget about the Happy Day give-away!

Don't forget to sign up for my Happy Day give-away, HERE. The drawing is tomorrow morning!

Got some fun mail this week -- not for me, but for my older son, David! Laurie's son, Ben, went to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree over the last few weeks, and Laurie got this patch for David, since he wasn't able to go. David thought it was SO cool! Thank you, Laurie, it was really, really nice of you to think of him! He is excited to show it to the other boys in our Troop at Monday's meeting!

I finished hand-quilting my July Schnibble, Joy Luck, and now have it hanging over my desk... :o) I really love the colors!

And here is my progress on the hexagons... These are the little 1/2" hexagons. Going to be a quilt center... :o)

Here's what I *really* want for my birthday -- I mean, come on, it even comes out ON my birthday! That must mean something, right?! Well, I know I won't be getting it, but a gal can dream... :o)

See you all tomorrow morning, when I announce the winner of my Happy Day drawing! :o)

Christmas Star Block swap

I am the hostess for a Christmas Star block swap, on one of the yahoo groups I am on... :o) We have 25 gals participating this year. I spent the weekend and yesterday doing up my set of blocks. I wanted to get them done right away, so that I wouldn't have to be making them when other gals are sending theirs in to me... :o)
You could make any 6-1/2" (unfinished size) star block of your choice. Colors are red/green/tan/gold. These fabrics are from the "Fancy Hill Farm" line, by Robyn Pandolph.

P.S. Come back soon - my birthday is coming up (UGH!) and I am going to have a give-away for YOU! :o)
