work in progress

I thought I would show some of my works-in-progress.... :o)

This is for a quilt shop customer. The star was put together by hand, by the customer's grandmother. I had to take it back apart, in 8 segments, to try to get it to lay flatter. Then added the triangles and corner squares by hand, again trying to keep it half-way flat. Then one set of borders added. Right now it is 51.5 inches square. She wants it for a queen size bed, so we have several more borders to add. Right now it is back up at the quilt shop, waiting for the customer to choose fabrics for the other borders. It is not 100% flat, but much better than it was when I started with it. The customer has enough star segments for 1 or 2 more quilts, when we get this one done. (By the way, it lays much flatter than it looks in this photo, the fan was blowing it, while Anna was holding it up for me.)

This is a Double Irish Cross quilt that I am hand-quilting for my mom. It is 90 x 106. There are eleven rows, right now I have one row done. I love the purple fabric.

And here are a couple photos of God's works-in-progress, from our garden. :o) I am so excited about our little pumpkins (they are the variety that stay little, for decorative...)

And I am extra excited about my sweet sunflower! :o)

Shabby Roses BOM - block 3

Here is Block 3 for the Shabby Roses BOM. I absolutely love these!

For those of you that follow my blog - where is block 2?!?! :o) Well, I traced it on the wrong side of the fabric (this is a white-on-white fabric I am using for the background) and since I already had block 3 traced also, I just went ahead and stitched it instead! I re-traced block 2 and have 4, 5 and 6 traced, so hope to get some more done soon! Of course, blocks 7 and 8 come out August 1st! Ugh! :o)))

Thanks again to Beatrice for the *fabric kit* for these blocks - I really love these fabrics and the variegated thread. She sent me the kit for our FRIENDS swap a little while back! :o)

Thanks so much for visiting! :o)

July BOMs

Here are my July BOMs! First, the Verandah Views block. I think I may make these into a quilt for my mom... (My bird looks angry?!?!) And here is the Gail Pan block. I really love the simplicity of these!

On another note, I am a Pay-It-Forward gal for Carol at Cornfield Quilter. She came up with the FANTASTIC idea of offering to machine quilt one of my quilt tops! WOW is all I can say! She is not done with it yet, but gave a sneak peek on her site - check it out HERE! I am so lucky to be on her list! I still need to work on my projects for my gals... Hhhmmm....!

Patriotic quilt top

I finished up this little quilt top - just a little late for the 4th of July, but I am always in the mood for the patriotic look... :o) It is the Bakers Dozen pattern/kit from Shabby Fabrics. I absolutely had to have the kit, when I saw that border fabric! The quilt top measures about 45 inches by 69 inches. I had some trouble with the triangles stretching, so some of my points did not line up! :o((( I may get some white rick-rack and stitch it along side the triangle strips, to cover those pesky points! :o)

*new* garage door

We finished up a project that I have wanted to do for a couple of years now... :o) It only took two days to complete, so I am not sure why it took us so long to get started! (Maybe 4 kids, etc., but hey!)

Anyways, here is our new and improved garage door! :o) We had the red and white paint from when we painted the house a few summers ago. So add some blue paint, and ta-da... :o)

I *LOVE* it!
Here is a photo of the whole house front, right after we had painted it. That was three summers ago. When we were painting it, I couldn't figure out why I was so tired all the time. I would come in each afternoon and take a nap. Turned out I was pregnant with Jimmy! HA!

new Love and Peace Embroidery Quilt

Always trying to come up with new, interesting things to add to my Etsy shop, here is the newest creation. :o) I call it the Love and Peace Embroidery Quilt. Very 60s inspired! :o)

The machine embroidery designs were stitched onto old jeans pant legs that I had saved and cut into squares - a great way to recycle! :o) If you would like to see close ups of the embroidery, you can stop by my Etsy shop... :o)

Yellow Butterfly Quilt

I finished up a little quilt over the weekend. This one is made with vintage chenille that a friend gave me. I LOVE using chenille, but BOY does it make a mess while you are working with it!

Anyways, it is little butterfly 4-patch blocks, alternating with yellow and white chenille blocks. The back is a striped chenille. I didnt end up using batting, as the chenille makes it snuggly enough.

I put the quilt up for sale in my Etsy shop... The link is in my side bar, if you want to take a peek at my shop... :o)

Customer order

Sales and customer orders have been down, down, down. Which is really depressing, with Dear Hubby just starting a 5-week layoff from work. But at least we know he has a return to work date and we will make it thru, one way or another...

Anyways, I did have an order from a long-term customer.... Her daughter had a couple of these quilted angels and Sharon sent me a photo and asked if I could make more of them. I enlarged the photo to the size she wanted and made a pattern. I made little patchworks that were 3 blocks by 6 blocks. Hand quilted that. Then traced the pattern on and hand-stitched around the shapes. Then assembled. They have little metal *rings* for halos, which is also how it would be hung by. I made an extra one for Sharon, as she had hip-replacement surgery on July 2nd... (The second replacement of the same hip.) They are a bit labor-intensive, but I LOVE how they turned out! :o)

Here is a close up of my favorite one... :o)

Sharon also needed a *Little Quilt* for a shower gift... Here is that - my own simple pattern, hand-quilting again... :o)
