work in progress

I thought I would show some of my works-in-progress.... :o)

This is for a quilt shop customer. The star was put together by hand, by the customer's grandmother. I had to take it back apart, in 8 segments, to try to get it to lay flatter. Then added the triangles and corner squares by hand, again trying to keep it half-way flat. Then one set of borders added. Right now it is 51.5 inches square. She wants it for a queen size bed, so we have several more borders to add. Right now it is back up at the quilt shop, waiting for the customer to choose fabrics for the other borders. It is not 100% flat, but much better than it was when I started with it. The customer has enough star segments for 1 or 2 more quilts, when we get this one done. (By the way, it lays much flatter than it looks in this photo, the fan was blowing it, while Anna was holding it up for me.)

This is a Double Irish Cross quilt that I am hand-quilting for my mom. It is 90 x 106. There are eleven rows, right now I have one row done. I love the purple fabric.

And here are a couple photos of God's works-in-progress, from our garden. :o) I am so excited about our little pumpkins (they are the variety that stay little, for decorative...)

And I am extra excited about my sweet sunflower! :o)

Thanks for visiting!

What a lot of work that star is! I adore the Double Irish Chain, it's one of my favorite designs. Your pumpkins are cute and your sunflower is sunny just like you :0)

Oh wow that is a lot of work, I always wanted to make one of those but they look so difficult.
The sunflower is beautiful and those cute little pumpkins.

To me it is more work to take it all apart than it is to make one from the beginning. You get an award for "Good Work"!

I have always wanted to make one of those but was so afraid to try one. They do say they buckle easy. It looks like you have done a good job on that one getting it to lay flat. Not the easiest thing in the world to take one apart that someone else did.

That star almost seems to move outward or to shimmer - I love that about that block. The set-in seams, however, are something I don't think I would love. :)
