Scrappy Star Quilt

I finished up a quilt that I put up for sale on Etsy... I had the quilt top done for awhile, but had needed to get batting... But now its done! :o) I hand quilted it with navy blue thread.

I signed up for the F-R-I-E-N-D-S swap over at Sew Prim Khris. It looks like a clever idea and I am really looking forward to making some new friends! :o)

wood working

Dear hubby does alot of wood working - he has made many items for our home, from the coffee table in our living room, to quilt block frames and shelves...
But this weekend, he made me something extra-special. Some of you may know me from my *old blog*, but my Dad passed away suddenly, almost 1-1/2 years ago, at the young age of 63, of a heart attack. This has been the hardest thing I have ever been thru. I miss him very much, every day. I was lucky enough to get the belt buckle that Dad wore every day. So Jim made me a plaque with the belt buckle mounted on it. We got the name plate at one of those engravers in the mall. I have it hanging by my desk/sewing area...

On a lighter note, while Jim was working in his shop, Jimmy went down with him to help... :o)

Double Nine Patch quilt

This is a Double Nine Patch quilt that I finished up this week. It is about 68 inches square. I did a larger *primitive* quilting stitch across the double nine patch blocks...

I am working on stitching out a few machine embroidery designs that I am going to make into a girls baby quilt... Hopefully I will have something to show on that soon... :o)

Verandah Views BOMs

I finished blocks three and four of the Verandah Views BOMs. I am really enjoying doing the hand embroidery. I am posting pictures of all four blocks, since I had not posted the first two here yet. (Again, the link to the BOM patterns is in my side bar.) You cannot tell much from the pictures, but I am stitching these on a light sky blue fabric.

Knitting and Jimmy

I have been teaching myself to knit, and just finished my first scarf! If I make another one, I wont make it quite as wide. It was 39 stitches across. Knit 2, Purl 2 across, then Purl 1 for the last stitch. Made a nice ribbed look. I am quite pleased with my first project! :o) The yarn was yummy - it is called Berry Burst. I used three skeins of the yarn for the length. (They were those small skeins.) I especially love any variegated yarn!

And because any time you have the camera out, Jimmy thinks you are gonna take a pic of him, here is Jimmy this morning... *Demolition Expert* fits him perfectly! :o)

Gail Pan BOMs

Here is block 4 for the Gail Pan Designs *A Christmas Wish* block-of-the-month. (The link for the BOMs is on my side bar.) Since I am new over here at Blogger, I thought I would go ahead and post the first three months pics too. I am not adding the borders to these blocks until I have them all stitched...

Wild Rose quilt top

This is a little quilt top I finished up the other night. It is made from 2 charm packs - *Wildrose* by Moda. I just did my own little split 9-patch pattern. (Dont know if it is the official split 9-patch or not!) I like the warm country colors. I am not sure if it will turn out to be a little throw, or maybe a Christmas tree skirt? It is only about 38 inches square. Ideas?

Race Track Play Mat

I finished up this little Race Track play mat for Jimmy over the weekend. David has given him many hot wheels cars, and I figured he needed a racetrack. I used I-Spy blocks for the base. The checkered flag border (and backing!) is left over fabric from curtains I made for Jimmys room. It did not come out like I envisioned, but I like it! I had seen one ages ago on a blog, and hers was with Drunkards path blocks. Well, I didnt want to do all that curved piecing (HA!) so I thought, I will make bias tape... The roads are about 2 inches wide. The mat measures about 33 inches square. There is one dirt road and two highways, with stoplight (buttons) at the intersection. (That was dear hubbys idea!) Jimmys favorite I-Spy block is the guitars -- can you find it? :o)
