May Schnibbles, PIF, etc... :o)

I finished my May Schnibbles this week! This month was *choose your own Schnibbles pattern*, so I chose the Spin City pattern, from the new Schnibbles Times Two book! This was made from stash fabrics (thanks to Carol, again!) and I am just thrilled with the way it turned out!

Jimmy wanted to be in the Schnibbles pic, so instead I took one of him and Daddy... :o) Two of my three handsome men... :o) David was at school... :o)

I am still in need of one more friend to PIF with! I also still need Shirley of Grammy and Papi's Attic to email me at janda082803 *@* yahoo.com, so I can get your mailing address, etc. You can click on the PIF heart below to find out details! Come join in the fun!

And last but not least, I have been busy with my Dear Jane blocks... If you haven't seen them, I hope you will come visit my DJ blog! Just click on the little logo below! :o)
Have a nice weekend! Happy Mother's Day!

PIF and pillow...

I didn't get too much done over this weekend, but I did make this little pillow! It is made using a mini Honey Bun that Carol at Cornfield Quilter gave me! (Thanks Carol!) This is a 15" pillow, so I just about used the whole honey bun! :o) And then when I got the top made, I dug thru my ribbon/laces and found some that coordinated, and hand-stitched them down along some of the seams. (There are 5 rows of ribbon/laces - you might have to enlarge the pic.) It was a fun, quick project, and something different than I usually make... I *LOVE* it!

Also, thanks to the gals that have signed up for my Pay It Forward! I have two gals so far! Speaking of that, Shirley of Grammy and Papi's Attic, can you email me (janda082803 *at* yahoo.com), your comments are set for *no reply*, so I couldn't get back to you on the details of the PIF! So, I still need one more taker! If you are curious about what Pay It Forward is all about, check out my blog post HERE. It is really is fun and easy!

Pay It Forward 2010

Have you heard of *Pay It Forward*? It is a great way to get a little gift, but give more *forward*... I enjoyed doing this last year, and I have tried to make 2010 my year of giving more than I get... So here I am, PIFing again... :o) I signed up at Terry's Life, and now I get to invite you to join in on the fun! Here's the fine print:

1. The first 3 people to visit my blog and leave a comment saying they want to participate will receive a handmade gift from me, within the next year... (Probably much sooner than that, but you are suppose give everyone a year, because sometimes life gets in the way!)

2. You MUST have a blog of your own to to participate in the PIF.

3. You must post about the PIF on your blog & offer the PIF challenge on your blog.

By accepting the Pay It Forward challenge, YOU agree to host a Pay It Forward to the first 3 people who sign up on your blog...you will then carry on the PIF by sending them a homemade gift within a year's time, and so it goes :)

I hope you will sign up, it really is so much fun to Pay It Forward!!! :o)

NOTE: Thanks to Shirley, Stacey and Michelle, I have my 3 PIF Friends! If you are still interested in being a PIF friend, visit them, or send me an email! :o)))

two more UFOs done, sorta...

I am still patiently (NOT!) waiting for my Dear Jane fabrics to arrive, so am working on my UFO pile some more. I suppose that is a good thing, right...? :o)

I finished up this quilt top today, the blocks were already made, just needed joined into rows and the rows put together. It is the *Scrappy Trails Quilt* pattern from Carlene Westberg Designs. Very easy to put together - uses a charm pack and a jelly roll. It is the *Sent with Love* fabric line... :o) Sorry it is sort of yellow-ish looking, the sun is actually shining brightly today, so there is quite a glare!
I completed another UFO quilt this morning, but cannot show pictures of it yet because it is in the mail to someone... :o) Hopefully, by next week, I will be able to show some pictures! I was REALLY happy with the way it turned out! :o)
Hope you all are having a good day! Jimmy is back to his normal self -- a wild-n-crazy 3-year-old! :o) Thanks for everyone's good wishes for him!

Pay It Forward

Have you all heard about *Pay It Forward*? You sign up with someone, they send you a gift of their choice. Then you have three people sign up with you, and you send them each one gift. They have three people sign up with each of them, and so on... You have a year to send out your gifts. It is on the honor system and you can send as much or as little as your budget/time allows. The idea is to give, just for the point of giving. Well, you remember at the beginning of August, I was lucky enough to receive my gift from Carol at Cornfield Quilter. She did SO much more than I expected, she machine quilted one of my quilt tops for me. I still have that quilt over my embroidery machine here by my computer, so I can look at it every day...

Last week, I sent off two of my PIF gifts. They both have been received so I thought I would show pics here. My love is hand-quilting, so both of these little gifts are hand quilted, with wonderful thoughts for the recipients in every stitch. :o) Our budget has been very tight lately, with Jim laid off for 5 weeks this summer, and back-to-school expenses, but I was very glad to hear that both my friends liked their gifts.

This table topper was sent to Erin at My Patchwork Life. She likes scrappy things, so I thought she would like this. Go visit her blog, she has the most lovely quilts with that scrappy look. I am always afraid to try scrappy, thinking it just wont look right all together, but hers are always beautiful!
This second table topper was sent to Kay. She does not have a blog anymore, but she emailed me and let me know that she loved it. She has a small table that she needed a table topper for... :o)
I have one more friend to send a PIF gift to, which I am currently working on... :o)))) Then I just may do the whole thing again. It is such a nice feeling to Pay It Forward!
Here is another pic of the rose Jim gave me for our anniversary last week. Look how lovely it has opened up. :o)

Hope you are all having a good week! Thanks for visiting!

Exquisite!

I was lucky enough to be chosen by Carol at Cornfield Quilter to be one of her PIFs. (Pay It Forward.) A little while back, she offered to machine quilt one of my quilt tops, as my gift. Of course, I accepted! I chose this Language of Love quilt top that I had pieced back in 2007 and had considered hand-quilted, but just had not gotten to it yet. It is a large quilt - 93 inches square. Since it is for my husband and I, I thought her machine quilting would be perfect for it. When I sent it off in July, I expected her to just do an all-over pattern, which would have been wonderful! Instead, Carol did this...! (This is only half the quilt, laid over our clothesline!) Be sure to click on the pics!

On the rose blocks, she outlined each rose!

And then the pieced blocks, have this feather-y flower.

Each border is quilted in-the-ditch, plus the feathers. Plus the lines on the outside border.

And then Carol threw in some patterns and kits that she no longer wanted, for me to use or pass along...! It was like my birthday! (Just a couple weeks early!)
I had tears in my eyes, when I saw the work she did. I am truly blessed with this, Carol! It is above and beyond what you had to do! I am so glad I was able to get such good photos today of this quilt - I wish you all could feel it. The texture is amazing. Right now, it is hanging over my embroidery machine, so I can just admire its beauty. Thank you, Carol, from the bottom of my heart!

July BOMs

Here are my July BOMs! First, the Verandah Views block. I think I may make these into a quilt for my mom... (My bird looks angry?!?!) And here is the Gail Pan block. I really love the simplicity of these!

On another note, I am a Pay-It-Forward gal for Carol at Cornfield Quilter. She came up with the FANTASTIC idea of offering to machine quilt one of my quilt tops! WOW is all I can say! She is not done with it yet, but gave a sneak peek on her site - check it out HERE! I am so lucky to be on her list! I still need to work on my projects for my gals... Hhhmmm....!
Thanks for visiting!
