Pay It Forward 2010

Have you heard of *Pay It Forward*? It is a great way to get a little gift, but give more *forward*... I enjoyed doing this last year, and I have tried to make 2010 my year of giving more than I get... So here I am, PIFing again... :o) I signed up at Terry's Life, and now I get to invite you to join in on the fun! Here's the fine print:

1. The first 3 people to visit my blog and leave a comment saying they want to participate will receive a handmade gift from me, within the next year... (Probably much sooner than that, but you are suppose give everyone a year, because sometimes life gets in the way!)

2. You MUST have a blog of your own to to participate in the PIF.

3. You must post about the PIF on your blog & offer the PIF challenge on your blog.

By accepting the Pay It Forward challenge, YOU agree to host a Pay It Forward to the first 3 people who sign up on your blog...you will then carry on the PIF by sending them a homemade gift within a year's time, and so it goes :)

I hope you will sign up, it really is so much fun to Pay It Forward!!! :o)

NOTE: Thanks to Shirley, Stacey and Michelle, I have my 3 PIF Friends! If you are still interested in being a PIF friend, visit them, or send me an email! :o)))

Monday... :o)

It's a good day! :o) My *Schnibbles Times Two* book arrived! This is the new book by Carrie Nelson, of Rosie's Quilt Company! I am so excited! Which project to start first?!?!

But before I get lost in my book, I wanted to tell you all to go sign up for the give-away at Notes of Sincerity! Trish is such a nice friend, and has made this beautiful bracelet to give away to one lucky commenter! I have her Psalms 23 bracelet, and it is a treasure to me!

Hope you all are having a good Monday, too! :o)

Granny's Stars quilt done!

These are not the best photos (I must have something messed up on the settings on the camera!) but here are my photos of the Granny's Stars quilt! YEAH! All bound and ready to send off to Sharon tomorrow! The applique borders are on all four sides, even though you can't see them in the photos...

This quilt is tied, per Sharon's request...

And here is the border - I love the yo-yo flowers! :o)

The pattern from this quilt is from Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting, July/August 2009 issue. I am really happy with how this quilt turned out, although I am ready to move on to the next project, as always... :o) Thanks for visiting!

Holidays At Home BOM

I joined the *Holidays At Home* Block of the Month at Fat Quarter Shop. The blocks for April are Churn Dash blocks. (make 4) They went together really quickly, because it uses a *Strip It* fabric, that is striped, to get that corner "triangles" and for the side pieces that look like two fabrics. What a clever idea! I can't wait to get next month's blocks!

Have a great Friday! It is raining here this morning, great sewing weather! :o)

first border!

I finished the first border for the Granny's Stars quilt! Those are yo-yo flowers along the vine, and a yellow yo-yo flower in the center of the big flower. All hand-stitched. :o) I love yo-yo's! Sorry, I didn't press it before I took the photo! It went together really quickly, so I am hoping to get the other borders done this week. I hand-basted all the leaves and flower pieces and I think that helped it go together quickly, since they were already in the general shape. I have the other borders pinned and ready to go... :o)

Don't forget to sign up for my Schnibbles pattern giveaway! I will draw a winner tomorrow night! Have a great day, and thanks for visiting!

tuffets, Dear Jane, and Granny's Stars

A little of this and that, today... :o) First off, I finished the tops of my Sweet Liberty Tuffets. These use the Bar Harbor fabrics, just like in the pattern... :o) I am going to do something different with at least a couple of them, so I won't be finishing them up until I get a little bit of yardage of the fabrics... :o)

Here are a couple of my Dear Jane blocks from last week. Each week, I am setting a goal of two blocks (times two, because I am making two color-ways). This block is called Old Windmill. If you would like to see my other blocks, or if you are making your own blocks and would like to follow along with my goals, please come visit my CSQ ~ Dear Jane blog!

And here is my progress on the Granny's Stars quilt that I am making for a friend. This is the top, without the borders. The borders have applique vines and yo-yo flowers. They are appliqued first, and then you add the borders to the quilt. I have to finish cutting the applique shapes, and then I can work on them... :o)

Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a good week! Don't forget to sign up for my Schnibbles Pattern Giveaway, it ends this Wednesday, April 21st! Good luck!

Schnibbles for you!

Are you ready for the Schnibbles pattern give-away?! :o) I have two Schnibbles patterns that I have duplicates of, so one of these patterns could be yours! I love both of these patterns, and I know you will too!

Leave me a comment on this post, telling me which pattern you would like, *Tagalong* or *Sweet Liberty ~Tuffets* (pincushions). I will randomly draw two winners (one for each pattern) next Wednesday, April 21st. Please make sure I have a way to contact you, if you win! :o) There will probably be an extra goodie or two in with your pattern, as well! :o)

April Schnibble - Tagalong

I am excited to join the Schnibbles Parade over at Pink Pincushion again this month! :o) This month's Schnibble is called Tagalong. Carol, do you recognize the fabrics? :o) Carol sent me a couple of charm packs of Blush, that I used for this month's quilt top. (Thank you, Carol!) I ordered a little extra yardage for the borders... :o) I ended up not making the outside border pieced, but used a single fabric, the inside of my quilt was busy enough for me... I love the way it turned out! :o)

Thanks for stopping by! I haven't forgotten about the patterns to give-away... Check back tomorrow! :o)

Birthday Quilt

I got the binding put on Elizabeth's birthday quilt on Friday night. :o) This is another one that Carol machine quilted for me, that I will be saving for the trio's 13th birthday in November. Elizabeth is all about the orange, so this quilt is just her style... :o) The binding is scrappy, which I am really starting to love! Carol, you did a beautiful job quilting this! Thank you again!
Here is a close up of the quilting on the front... It has such a great texture to it!

And here is how it looks on the back. The back is MUCH more orange than this photo shows, but at least you can see the quilting!

And last but not least, little Jimmy taking his nap this afternoon... Makes up for the screaming and hollering fit he had before his nap... :o)))

Check back in a day or two, I will have that give-away ready... :o)))

A jelly roll....

I participated last month in the Schnibbles Parade over at Pink Pincushion -- that was my first month of making the *right Schnibble* in the right month, so I was surprised when I won a prize! But not just any prize, a prize from Carrie! Yep, the Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co., the creator of the Schnibbles designs! My prize was a yummy *Old Primrose Inn* jelly roll, just my kind of fabrics! :o)

But when I got the box, I knew it was way too big for just a jelly roll! :o) Oh my, she included so many nice goodies! (She did not want the jelly roll to be lonely!) Not only did she send the *Old Primrose Inn* jelly roll, but TWO *Collection For A Cause - Legacy* jelly rolls that go with the *Emma's Legacy* pattern! And three *The Water's Edge* charm packs! (Those will be saved for a future Schnibble project!) And a few Schnibble patterns, and Best Press starch! I haven't tried that, so that will be fun to try out! :o)

Two of the Schnibbles patterns I already had, so check back later this week, because I will be doing a drawing for those patterns, to two separate winners! I want to share the joy... :o)))

Thank you so much, Carrie! I have enjoyed your patterns and certainly love all my gifts! Now to work on this month's Schibble! :o))) Oh, and did you know she has a new book coming out?! *Schnibbles Times Two* -- on my want list... :o)

this & that

This past week, the trio were off from school for Spring Break, so it feels like I didn't get much done, but looking at the photos, I guess I did get a few things done... :o)

First off, I made siggie blocks for the Dear Jane Signature Block Swap - 62 blocks, which I mailed off yesterday morning, and then the number changed to 64/65, so I have 5 more ready to mail off tomorrow... A few extra, just in case! HA!

This is a block from the *Granny's Star* quilt that I am making for my friend, Sharon. (No blog - she is the one I did the Beachfront Cottage quilt for, that was all hand-quilted.) She bought the kit for this one, but it will just be tied, not quilted, per her request... I am enjoying the 1930s fabrics... :o) These are large blocks - 16". I just have to put the blocks into rows, add borders and some applique on the borders... :o) I will post more pics as I make more progress... :o)

And last, but *CERTAINLY* not least... :o))) I got back Anna and Elizabeth's birthday quilts back from Carol. I am trading piecing a couple of kits for her, and she is quilting the trio's birthday quilts. I will tell you, I think I am the one that is getting the better end of this deal! I got the binding added to Anna's quilt, so here are the final pictures:

The quilting is just gorgeous - I know Anna will love it! Pink thread, too! What more could a girl ask for! :o) Be sure to click on the pictures, to get a better view! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Carol! I hope to have the binding put on Elizabeth's quilt later this week, or maybe this weekend... Watch this space for pictures... :o)

Hope you all are having a good week, so far!
